A growing need for an International governing body for football was seen in the early 20th century. Thus, FIFA was established to govern and oversee the major football events. Though FIFA doesn’t govern the rules of football it is responsible for major events and their promotions throughout the world. FIFA is regulated under the Laws of Switzerland. The founding members of FIFA were the national associations of Belgium, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. The first president of FIFA was Robert Guérin who was later, in 1906, replaced by Daniel Burley Woolfall from England, and finally by then a member of the association.
Since 1994 FIFA World Cup, FIFA has adopted an anthem composed by the German composer Franz Lambert.
